Apple Cup [23 Nov 2008|07:11am]
I have no idea how we did it, but the Cougars pulled out for the win yesterday against the Huskies. After not really being in the game for 3 quarters we scored a TD. And then somehow our QB (recently recovering from a broken vertebra and a concussion) and our 118th ranked offense (thats out of 120) who could make a play the entire game drove the ball 87 yards in 31 seconds and no more time outs (including a Hail Mary 56 yard pass - HUGE for our QB and over half his game total of passing yards- to a true freshman with 3 receptions the entire season) to kick a tying field goal with :02 of the clock. Onward to double overtime. Thank god for crappy Huskie kickers (they missed 1 from the 28 yardline with 1:02 left on the game clock that would have guaranteed the win and one in double OT which gave us the W). All in the words of ESPN, "This was supposed to be the most rotten of Apple Cups. It was the first time two 10-loss teams had ever faced off in Pac-10 history. The Huskies and Cougars were punch lines for college football pundits...But as is usually the case with this rivalry, a classic broke out. While it might not be remembered for the highest quality of play, the Cougars and Huskies played a tight game that continued the tradition of the rivalry."

So in the name of rivalry, FUCK THE HUSKIES! 2-10 baby!

Elton John [13 Apr 2008|10:53am]
Elton John played in Pullman last night and my jaw is still gaping. The man is a god. I still have no idea how we managed to get Sir Elton John to come to the middle of no where, and I'm even more amazed that the students got him to stay for a second night. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.

God it's been a while since I've written in this thing, I more or less forgot I even had it.

Tomorrow is the last day of fall semester for me, then I have finals and then break. This year is going by fast.

I'm going to be an RA next year, which should be pretty cool. It'll be a decent amount of work, but it's free room, board, and a meal plan, so it'll save me $3000+, not bad in my opinion, plus it'll let me save up for studying abroad.

The Deathly Hallows [23 Jul 2007|01:45pm]
I bought the last Harry Potter Saturday afternoon and had it finished by Sunday afternoon. It took me 24 hours, not because I was slow, but because I was trying to drag it out, but even so it last only for a day.

I extremely pleased with it. Don't worry I'm not going to say anything about the plot or spoil anything. But I very much enjoyed it.

[ music | "Straight Lines" - Silverchair ]

Went and say HP5 last night at midnight and for the first time with these movies I walked out thinking that that was a good movies. Considering the book is like 900 pages, i think that they did a great job making it into a movie. They left out one or two things I thought were important (one that is - according to the British Deathly Hallows cover - going to play a huge role in book 7), but over all I thought it was great. I got the feel from it that the stuff they cut didn't not happen, just that the camera wasn't following Harry that day, that it did indeed happen, we just didn't get to see it...and I like that feeling much more then "Why the hell did they just change that entire story?!?!" No matter what, the movies will never be as good as the books, and thats ok, because we have the books to read the things we like so much, but for an adaption, I think this one is up there.

So Silverchair just put out a new album and is going on a US tour for the first time since 1999. I'm so excited! They're going to be at the Showbox on the 20th, unless something comes up I'm pretty sure I'm going to go. Their new stuff is pretty good

work work work [18 Jun 2007|06:22pm]
Work is good so far, an easy $100 a day for not doing too much, not bad. The only thing that sucks is the commute. Not because it's pricey - in fact its 100% paid for by Uncle Sam and the tax payers of America - but because I have to get up at 5:05am five days a week. Not to bad, but it gets a little exhausting. I'm also going to take one or two college course through the Coast Guard CLEP/DSST exams. These are put on by the College board and is more a less a class which I do with what I want. I three hours a week during the work day (on the clock I might add) to do something 'educational' and when ever I feel ready I let the education officer (a guy we were stationed with and I've known since I was 6) and he'll give me the test. The beauty of it all is that it's 100% free to me and will be transferred to WSU for Credit. Not bad, instead of paying $500+ a class, I'm being paid to study and take them...not bad at all.

[ music | "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" by Santa Esmeralda ]

Heading down to Vancouver to hang out with Kate this weekend, we're going to go to the John Mayer and Ben Folds concert, should be fun. I got a job at the Coast Guard base, $11.60 an hour, 40 hours a week...thats over a months rent every week, plus weekends off! Sa-weet. That'll be nice because I can make plans a lot easier and will be able to do more, while still making a lot of money. I start on the 11th.

Home sweet home [09 May 2007|08:53am]
So I've bee home for four days so far, and now I remember why I decided to go to school in Pullman...Silverdale is boring as hell. Hopefully that'll change once some more people start getting home, but going off of last summer, it probably wont. I've applied for a bunch of different jobs and now its just that awkward waiting stage of "did I get the job?" I applied to a whole bunch of different places, ranging from Costco to PSNS or Olive Garden to the Coast Guard base. I'm hoping for one of the military bases because I'd bank and would have the weekends off, which would be super sweet, and would also make it easier to cordinate plans with Kate. Supposedly PSNS's jobs are full, but thats just what I've heard. My dad is keeping me updated - and doing some work behind the scense - on the opening at his base, and Keyport, Bangor, Costco, Safe Way, and the Olive Garden are all just waiting games.

Feel free to give me a call, until I start working I'm just going to be doing a whole lot of sitting around.

So close [16 Apr 2007|08:23am]

[ music | "Karma Police" - Radiohead ]

Only 16 days left of school for me. I can't believe that, it really feels like I just got here. This year has been amazing, everything I expected with a few suprises - both good and bad - along the way. I am so happy I picked WSU over a West Side school.

This summer is going to be rough. The first one of being in the real world. I plan on working at the very minimum 30 hours a week, though hopefully the Navy Base job will come through and I'll work 40 hours a week at $11 per hour. With that kind of money being pulled in I could have my appartment paid for when I move in. This summer is all about making money, and that kind of sucks - no camping in the middle of the week and days of wakeboarding, but when you've got three years of college to pay for its practicle. Not sure how much I'm going to get to see Kate, we're going to try to get together, either her come up or I go down, like every other week. It's going to suck to go from living in the same building to a couple hundred miles away, but its not for too long and it wont be too bad.

24 is on tonight, sweet!

[ music | "Mirror in the Bathroom" - The English Beat ]

Wow, spring break was way to short. Didn't really do to much, worked a lot for my dad painting and doing some odd and end jobs, but besides that just relaxed. The weather today and yesterday has been delightful, in the upper 60s and super sunny, I could get to used to that. Seems like I've got more this week than I did during midterms. In the next week I've got 2 exams, 1 quiz and 2 papers...though I've had all the materials since before break, haha, got to love procrastination.

It's hard to believe that in 6 weeks I'll be done with my first year of college. This summer is going to be all about work, got a few places that I'm thinking about, but when it comes down to it, this summer its all about the money. And then next year is going to rock, can't wait till the apartment.

all in all [25 Nov 2006|11:40pm]
well i leave tomorrow morning for the east side and all in all the break was nice. i was surprised at how odd it was. i got home on sunday and by that night i was already ready to go home. i dont know, it was nice to be back, but i was rather bored the majority of the time. i saw all the people i wanted to see, and didn't see anyone i didn't want to, so that was nice, i was even surprised with steph tell stopping by the house for a little bit to say hi to me and my parents. but that being said i can't wait to get home tomorrow, because i do consider WSU my home. i've lived there the alst 4 months and i've gotten used to it and to the people there and i can't wait to get back...plus there will be like 10" of snow when i get back!. hope everyone had a great break. if you didn't see me and wanted to i'll be back no later than dec. 18th, but probably the 16th so call me.

PS: cell phone broke so i got a new one, you should leave your number

[ music | "40'" - Franz Ferdinand ]

So on Friday I sign up for next semesters classes. Wow, time flies. I'm almost halfway through this school year. But yet again I reach a point of "what the fuck am I going to do with my life?" And yet again I don't have the answers. I look around at all my friends, new and old, and for the most part they all have at least some idea what they want to do. Not me. They all are amazing students who, even in college, are getting straight A's. Not me. It is so frustrating to be surrounded by people that are so put together, so smart. It's even more frustrating to then be judged against them because people assume that you too are like them, smart, organized, going some where. I don't know where I'm going. I'm not a genius. I work hard for my C's and B's. I just want some idea on what I want to do, some direction of where to go. Hopefully come Friday at 10:40am I'll know what classes I want to take so that way I can sign up for them.

Apple Cup this weekend is going to be amazing. A much needed break from this academic week from hell. I'm going to Zach Spotts' for and Apple Cup party on Friday, the activities begin at 2:00pm and don't end till Sunday morning. We're camping out in front of MartIn so that we have amazing seats. It's going to be a great weekend. To be honest though, I'm not really looking forward to going home. It wont be bad or anything....just weird.

its really windy out here. last night there were 60mph+ winds. it has snowed a couple of times but has yet to stick for more than an hour or so.

apple cup this weekend! so excited. going to a cup party friday night and then taking a 4 hour shift sometime that night/morning to save seats in the stadium. who all from UW, or other places, are making the trek through the beautiful palouse to see it.

thanksgiving break should be interesting. not sure how enjoyable. i like college life and am not really looking forward to not having the same freedoms that i've now grown accustomed to. i'm looking forward to seeing some people, not so much to see others. anyone know if anything will be happening in the dale?

3 out of 4 polls, we're doing great and going strong and its looking like we could make it to the bowl games. and better yet, UW didn't make any of the polls. Sorry guys, I'll see you at the Apple Cup...but just as a reminder:
